HEC to Launch Pakistan School on Internet Governance

Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan is ready to unveil the Pakistan School on Internet Governance (pkSIG). The introductory four day workshop will begin from 5^th October 2015 to 8^th October 2015.

This workshop is arranged in association along with Asia-Pacific Network Internet Centre (APNIC), Internet Society (ISoc) as well as the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and also Numbers (ICANN).

PkSIG desires to offer an inclusive as well as intense course that will cover political, legal, economic, socio-cultural, and technological and also the other dimensions of the Internet Governance within the context of the Pakistani national objectives. Between the scheduled activities are workshops, round-tables and also the case presentations.

The workshop will be open for aspirants, researchers and also for professionals from government and private zones. The main objective of the activities will be to edify the participants on the best practices when it comes to international and regional Internet governance matters, settings, as well as the processes. At the same time, they will learn more regarding the different aspects of Internet Governance.

The workshop will examine various government situations and also how they would affect the zone as well as the national economy. A complete history of the internet from the initial days up to now the present age will be offered. Speakers will try to emphasize on the various topics such as social media, local content and also the other advanced internet topics.

The introduction of ISoc, its chapters as well as the requirements of membership will be detailed together with a presentation on ICANN and its associate bodies and committees. The requirement for the development of policies for the digital age will also be strained upon.
