On Wednesday, Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Margaret Adamson as well as the Higher Education Commission Chairman Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad signed a document of understanding (DoU) for limited scholarships for Pakistani scholars in the Australian universities.

The universities which will offer these fellowships involve the University of Melbourne, Macquarie University, University of Wollongong as well as the RMIT University which are considered as the top ranked universities of Australia. These universities would offer 170 partial PhD scholarships.

Under this mutual scholarship programme, University of Melbourne has provided the 75 full tuition fee waiver PhD scholarships in next 5 years, University of Wollongong has provided 25 full tuition fee waiver PhD scholarships in next 5 years, as well as the RMIT University has offered 20 full tuition fee waiver PhD scholarships in next 4 years. HEC funding will cover maintenance expenses, air travel expenses as well as the health insurance.
