HEC plans to cooperate with EU in higher education

Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) made a plan to associate along with the European Union (EU) in the field of higher education. Both these two authorities will identify the particular zones of mutual interest for accumulating the interaction between the academic as well as the researchers.

It was discussed in a meeting held between the chairman of HEC Dr Mukhtar Ahmed and a European Union delegation led by Luigi Brogi, Development Adviser, and European Union Delegation to Pakistan at Commission Secretariat.

Dr Mukhtar Ahmed shared the important investments of HEC towards the development of institutional facilities, introduction of new disciplines in market based technologies, development of human resource consisting of faculty, enhancement in research facilities, enrichment of technological infrastructure, Pakistan Education and Research Network, Digital Library, as well as the linkages along with the various foreign universities. He also ped light on provision of facilities for the aspirants via Prime Minister’s Fee Reimbursement Programme which is offering the free education for less established regions, the provision of laptops to university aspirants and also plans to make universities WiFi enabled, through introducing the concept of smart universities.

The chairman also abided on the activities of Higher Education Commission for capable construction of researchers as well as the support to universities in upgrade of research and the commercialization of university research. He stressed upon that Pakistan will be interested in academic linkages in various regions of socio-economic siignificance.

He also shared the creativity of HEC to encourage the higher education institutions for CSR activities with the help of effective engagement along with the society. Owing to the handling project of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, moderately better universities are being fortified to share their experiences as well as expertise along with the schools, colleges, and also with the small universities within their regions.

The European Union delegates esteemed the role of HEC in developing human resource of the state as well as promoting research culture via different research and development edges.
