HEC Might Consider Reopening of Colleges & Universities for Exams After Eid

Dr. Tariq Burnai, Chairman of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan said that all colleges and universities might be reopened to conduct the exams after Eid. He added that this decision is under consideration and it will be implemented if the situation will get better at the end of 30th May 2020. According to him, the recommendations by the experts are being reviewed and suggestions will be forwarded to the government to cope up with this issue.

Looking for Possible Solutions

No policy to reopen the colleges and universities has been finalized yet. A meeting will be held on Tuesday 12th May 2020 to discuss this matter and to bring up the possible solution. The chairman informed the students that they should be stand firm against the battle with the coronavirus as the joint struggles are required to handle the current situation.

Announcement of Education Minister

The Federal Minister of Education Shafqat Mahmood announced the cancellation of the board examination all over Pakistan. This step is taken to control the prevalence of the coronavirus and to protect from its negative consequences.

Education and Examination Activities

The chairman addresses the media after the National Coordination Committee meeting held in Islamabad and confirmed that all the educational institutes of Pakistan will remain close in the rising concerns over COVID-19. The board exams have been canceled and the students will be promoted to the next grade based on their previous year's performance.

Student’s Promotion in the Next Education Level

The students of intermediate can get admission to the university on the basis of 11th class marks to continue their studies. He furthermore said that all the provinces have agreed to take this decision and as the school will reopen the students will get promoted to the next class and follow the routine study schedule.
