HEC Has Planned to Deploy 1000 PhD Scholars in Universities

On Monday, official sources of HEC have announced that 1000 unemployed PhD scholars from across the country will be deployed in various Pakistani Universities. HEC has already gathered credentials of PhD scholars to provide them on merit positions. They will be paid for their research work as well. According to the initial planning of this employment project, 22 PhD scholars will be given posts of Assistant Professors in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Larkana.

Under this project called Inter Placement of Fresh PhD’s Scholars (IPFP), the scholars will be in contract for one year job initially. The scholars will be paid by HEC itself. HEC has started to formulate research work payment criteria for PhD scholars which will be given to them within a month.

King Edward Graduated Doctor Wins Hunterian Professor Award in UK

Dr. Sadat has marked history by becoming an only Pakistani doctor to have ever won Hunterian Professor Award from Royal College of Surgeons of England in 200 years. He is King Edward Medical College graduate who went to UK in 2005. He has been working in Cambridge University medical research department for last ten years. He has made a major breakthrough in vascular surgery, bio-engineering and MRI.

In an official statement to Geo News he said, ‘This technology can help people worldwide. It helps doctors to discern the pattern of disease in elaborated manner and can aid pharmaceutical companies to develop new drugs and check their effectiveness. While answering a question about his qualifications, he said, ‘I have completed my qualification (FRCS) in vascular surgery. I am a vascular surgeon; I have established myself as a scientist. I have gained research qualifications of Master of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Surgery, all from the University of Cambridge. I have published over 150 research papers and I have also received numerous prestigious awards for my research’.

This award is equivalent to Nobel Prize in the global medical field. Discussing how Pakistani medical field can be developed he said, ‘Vascular surgery as a specialty does not even exist in Pakistan. Pakistanis as a population have risk factors like diabetes and high blood pressure to develop blocked arteries, in Pakistan, we do not have a research culture, and there is scarcely any research infrastructure in healthcare of international level in Pakistan. Pakistani government must try to establish a medical research centre of excellence where research of international level can be carried out.’

The 6th Annual Meritorious Awards Ceremony was held At Habib University, Karachi on Thursday to honor and acknowledge the high achieving students. Brilliant and high achievers from various schools of Karachi were invited in the event. The event was organized by faculty members, students and administration of Habib University, Karachi.

The high achievers belonging from The City School, Beacon House School System, Nixor College and Cedar College were present at the event. The students were given awards and prizes.
