Hazara University has announced the new dress code for the students, teachers, and staff members. The academic council on its 22nd meeting approved the recommendations regarding the dress code constituted under the convenorship of the dean, faculty of law & administrative sciences as per the directives of the chancellor of the university. Moreover, it is mandatory for all the students to wear an ID card at the university. 

Recommendations For Dress Code

As per the dress code recommended for the female students, they have to wear an abaya (black/grey/dark blue without any decoration, scarf/dupatta( white, black, dark blue, and maroon), and shalwar kameez with dupatta and chaddar. And the female students are restricted to wear jeans, tights, Short shirts, T-shirts, heavy makeup, and jewelry. The male students have been directed to wear a dress shirt with dress pants, dress shoes with socks, and shalwar kameez and not allowed to wear cut-off jeans, shorts, skin-fitted jeans, chains, and slippers. Long hair, ponytails, and unpresentable beard cut are also not permitted by Hazara University. For the administration staff, the recommendations are to wear neat, clean, and presentable clothes and faculty must wear a black gown during lectures. They are also forbidden to wear shorts, cut-off jeans, skinny jeans, slippers earrings, and wrist chains. The staff must wear the university ID card within the university.

Implementation of Decision

Kamran Bangash, special adviser on education to the chief minister has appreciated the efforts of the university and added that each institute holds the authoritative power to adopt its own dress code. He said through the implementation of this decision the students will focus on the studies. Moreover, there will be no dress competition and all the poor and wealthy students will follow the recommended dress code.
