Govt Home Economics College organizes annual exhibition 2014

Lahore, On Friday, Feb 21, 2014 Annual Exhibition based on M.Sc. projects was held at Govt. College of Home Economics, Gulberg,  Lahore.

The Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Mashood Graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Projects were based on Stitching, Designing, Dying, Screen Printing, Digital Printing, Block Printing, Batik, Interior Decoration, Water/Oil Painting, Tie and Dye, Calligraphy, Sketching, Renovation, Restoration of furniture and market trends. The research papers on the needs of children, their diet and importance of healthy food were also displayed. The Chief Guest along with the Principal, Dr. Samia Kalsoom, Vice Principal, Dr. Ambreen Sagheer and coordinator Mrs. Shaheen  Pervez Visited the displays of various departments and praised the creativity of the students. This exhibition which was once a display of Clothing and Textile Deptt. only has now become an eye-catching display of five MSc. Deptts. The exhibition was a feast for eyes for the outsider also.

The Government College of Home Economics, Lahore came into being in 1955 to establish a eminent center of excellence for teaching and research in the area of Home Economics. Since its inauguration the college is linked with the University of the Punjab for the award of a bachelors degree and two years MSc Program in five major programs of Home Economics. Graduate and post graduate diplomas are also offered by the university.

The college offers education besides the problems of food and clothing and also includes many features of family relations, child development, consumer awareness, parental education, institutional management and interior designing.
