Government Of Punjab School Education Department has decided to reopen schools after Eid-ul-fiter. The All Pakistan School Federation appealed to the government on Tuesday to allow them to reopen the schools under Standard Operation Procedures SOPs from 1st June 2020. Keeping the schools closed till 15th July 2020 is equal to contentions for education. 20 million students are suffering the education loss and it would be impossible to recover it. He added more that about 1 million people will be jobless and dozens of education institutions will shut down permanently if schools remain closed. He demanded from PM Imran khan to announce a relief package for private schools.  Now the Punjab government school education department based on a survey has suggested some strategies to reopen the school in the province. Keeping in mind the existing crises of COVID-19 we would like to reach out our major stake holders to find out your views on the following terms of safe reopening of the schools and strategies to follow. SED suggested that one solution cannot be applicable for all schools. So some strategies can pilot in certain schools while others can run according to plan.

SED has suggested the following suggestions about reopening of schools in different areas.

Safe Reopening Of Schools

  1. School will be opened in districts or tehsils where number of corona virus cases are lesser
  2. Where cases are more in numbers schools will open with secondary and higher secondary classes.
  3. There should be collaboration and  coordination with the health authorities
  4. Schools will be disinfected and cleaned prior & post  opening thoroughly
  5. Before opening the staff must be trained of operating procedures and orient parents committee.
  6. An SMS campaign would be use  a week before opening
  7. PR campaign, School cleanliness an safety procedures
  8. Students should be trained about social distancing,  washing hands on arrival , during and upon departure.
  9. sick students, teachers and other staff must be screened and informed to health authorities
  10. daily screening of students and staff must be ensured

Academics

  1. Increase the desk spacing
  1. Secondary and higher secondary classed (9th to 12th) will open for three days a week giving home work & taleem ghar.
  2. Elementary classes (6, 7, 8) will open twice aweek
  3. Primary classes (grade ECE to grade 5) will open twice a week or in afternoon.
  4. In phase 1 only single elementary and primary school will be opened in Tehsil Headquarter. In phase two schools to be opened all over the Tehsil.
  5. High school time table will be expanded with students and teachers attending in morning, afternoon and evening.

 

  1. Teachers should be trained health department, AEOs, vigilance committee and DAEs.
  2. Learning from home must be focused by giving creative and practical activities and distance learning modules.
  3. Hand sanitizers, soaps, masks, school and washroom cleaning supplies, thermometers, physical distance marking tape, must be purchased.
