Gilgit: The government of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) has made ‘Quran education’ compulsory up to 5th grade in all government sector schools crosswise the region.

“At first this decision would be applicable to the public sector schools, however gradually private schools would also be required to incorporate Quran studies in their syllabus,” Faizullah Faraq, the official representative for the Gilgit-Baltistan government told the media sources on Sunday.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held in Gilgit on Saturday. This meeting was headed over by Chief Minister Hafeezur Rehman. Besides ministers while it was also attended by the chief secretary as well as other heads of different departments.
