Peshawar: Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) distributed Rs 110 million among 240 principals and 1680 teachers of best government schools to appreciate their exceptional performance in the line of teaching and schools management on World Teachers Day.

The chairperson of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan was the chief guest of the ceremony whereas Chief Minister of KPK Parvaiz Khattak, Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Muhammad Atif Khan, Speaker Asad Qaiser, members of provincial assembly as well as male and female teachers also attended the ceremony organized at Chief Minister's House.

Total 240 principals and 1,680 male and female teachers were awarded along with the cash prizes on the event.

Last year KPK government had distributed Rs 50 million whereas this year the amount was more than double as Rs 110 million distributed among brilliant teachers and principals.

While addressing the ceremony, PTI Chairman Imran Khan said that said that almost 35,000 students have been switched from private sector schools to government sector schools in the province because of the adequate reforms in the education zone.


"Development is not only subjected to establish buildings and inaugurate mega schemes like metros and roads however it means to invest on the human development especially on education", said Imran Khan.


He criticized on the performance of the earlier government in education zone and called it as a poor system.

Imran Khan appreciated the steps taken by PTI Government and their long standing result that paved way for aspirants from poor families to get good quality education in the government schools.

He furthermore added that the cash prizes will encourage the community of teachers in the province and it will have good impact on the performance of the teachers in the classroom.

Moreover, Khan suggested the teachers to work hard and give lesson of truth to their students.

KP Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Muhammad Atif Khan during his address said that PTI-led provincial government had appointed 40,000 new teachers in its 3 years whereas another 15,000 teachers will be hired in the coming year to overwhelm the shortage of teachers.

He said that KPK Government signed MoU along with the British Council for training of over 38,000 government school teachers on the modern techniques.
