The federal government has announced a total shutdown of the education sector in Pakistan till July 15th. As the government is trying to support the poor through Asaas package, Private schools also want to be included in an economic bail-out package.

Education Sector After COVID-19

After the first week of February, all education sectors of Pakistan are on total lockdown. Due to this situation, private school owners are getting hit hard. Parents are not paying any fees because their children are not attending schools.

On the other hand, these institutes have to pay regular salaries to the teachers. NASP (National Association of Private) senior vice president Zahid Bashir Dar said that the government has totally neglected the effect of this lockdown on the private education sector. Private school owners are frustrated because the government failed to include them in an economic package.

How Much Private Schools Are Suffering

If the government will not help these institutes the monster of COVID-19 will devour this small private education department.  There are more than 170,000 private educational institutes in Pakistan and over 2 million teachers are working with them.

If this lockdown will be prolonged these institutes will be forced to cut down salaries and thousands of people will be unemployed. Dar also said that most of these institutes are operating on rented premises. They have to pay rent and this lockdown is not making things easy for them unless the government includes them in an economic package.
