German Ambassador Visited Air University, Islamabad

HE Martin Kobler the German Ambassador to Pakistan visited Air University Islamabad on Tuesday. Her was received by VC of Air University, Faculty members, HODs and Deans. The ambassador said that he was deeply touched by the warm hospitality he has had received by Pakistani public and top officials.

The German Ambassador praised the modern academic approach of the university and referred it as “headed towards right direction, ‘friendly’, ‘modern’ and ‘green’. The Ambassador engaged with students and indulged in questions answer sessions. While advising the students, the German Ambassador said that if you are looking forward to study abroad in Germany for Masters and PhD courses, the right way to apply is to submit admission forms in German Universities first and then apply for German visa immediately.

He explained the German Visa perquisites by saying that the students must arrive at visa interviews on time or, otherwise, a new visa appointment may take as long as 6 weeks. During answering to questions of students, the German Ambassador expressed his regret saying although Pakistan is an atomic power, yet it is unfortunate that it is relying heavily on imports and the research and input resources in Pakistan are quite short and inadequate. Pakistan is not even able to produce export quality bicycles and depends on other countries for even such minor commodities.

Explaining the reason behind this he said that he is sure it is not a lack of potential but a lack of serious and focused approach and research deficiency. He said that the German Government is resolute to collaborate with Pakistan on every field and wishes it develops and leaps rapidly towards the 21st century.

9th convocation of the Government College University Faisalabad Held

The 9th convocation of the Government College University Faisalabad held on Tuesday. The event was graced with presence of Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar. While addressing the attendants, students, faculty members and parents of the event, the Governor said concrete steps have been taken for the development of education system in Pakistan.

He said, planning and arrangements are afoot to enhance the quality of education in higher education institutes and universities to convert them into modern centers of excellence and innovation. He said political leadership will be directly involved in appointments for jobs of faculty members, VCS and administrative staff of Universities to ensure merit.

He said that Pakistani youth has unmatchable potential and we want to provide them ample opportunities to showcase their capabilities. University Vice-Chancellor Dr Nasir Amin took benefit of the occasion and announced that the university is introducing online examination system. He said that we are always looking for new ways to facilitate students in pursuing their studies. The university focuses on providing high quality education and a platform to demonstrate their potentials and capabilities. The event was also attended by Punjab Social Welfare Minister Muhammad Ajmal Cheema, Deputy Commissioner Sardar Saifullah Dogar, local parliamentarians and principals of affiliated colleges, scholars and rest of the GCU staff.
