Lahore, Government College University Lahore (GCU) is going to start a special diploma in forensic sciences for policemen and officials of other law enforcement agencies in cooperation with the Punjab Forensic Science Agency. The purpose of this diploma is to train cops in crime scene investigation, evidence preservation, crime mapping, fingerprints and DNA markers & technologies and analytical techniques.

The announcement was made during a agreement passing ceremony between the PFSA and GCU for academic and research association on Wednesday.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman and PFSA Director General Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Tahir signed the agreement while Government College University Director Research Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zakria Butt, Director Academic Planning Fauzia Shaheen, Chemistry Department Chairperson Prof. Dr. Islam Ullah Khan, MS Forensic Chemistry Coordinator Dr. M. Farrukh and PFSA Director Forensics Dr. M. Sarwar were also present.

The Punjab Forensic Science Agency will expand practical training and other resources for the six month diploma that will aid policemen to manage modern methods and technologies.

The PFSA also offered to provide training to Government College University faculty members for teaching and curriculum designing of the diploma for policemen.

Addressing at the agreement signing ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Khaleeq said coaching of professionals of law would support them to make an environment for equality, justice and rule of law.
