GCU clinched 52 prizes in CM’s debating competition

Government College University’s Debating Society (GCUDS) has won the 52 positions as well as the total cash prize of almost of Rs1.7 million in the Punjab Chief Minister’s Debating, Speech and Essay Competitions 2016. As per the issued press release, the competitions were organized on the provincial, divisional and district levels. At the provincial level competitions, the presenters of the GCU Debating Society clinched 5 individual positions, while at the divisional and district level competitions, 21 and the 26 positions were attained by the students respectively.

At the provincial level, Mohiba Ahmed won the two Best Speaker Awards both in English Speech as well as in the Debate competitions at the degree level. Raza Aftab Gillani was avowed as the Second Best Urdu Speaker in the Chief Minister’s Debate Competition in the postgraduate category, whereas the student named Salman Sikandar clinched the second position in English debate at the intermediate level competition, while Jaweria Batool attained the second best speaker award in Urdu debate at the degree level competition.

At the divisional and district level competitions, Hassan Qadeer Butt, Hamza Abbas, Sana Mansoor, Areeba Nadeem, Aminah Sohail Qureshi, Kafeel Rana, Abdullah Zafar, Zohaib Alam, Fahad Bin Faraz, Abdul Rahim Virk, Haris Ali Virk, Ahsaanullah, Ali Zar, Fahad Shahbaz Warraich, Qasim Raza, Abdul Hannan Mir, Fahad Mehmood, Usama Khan and Mubashir Aslam clinched different positions in various categories.

The vice chancellor of the Government college university (GCU) Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah congratulated the adviser of GCUDS Siddique Awan as well as the presenters on their exceptional performance in debates, claiming that they had undoubtedly proved themselves to be the most brilliant torch-bearers of the pride of university.
