Islamabad: Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) has stopped four Pakistani universities from enrolling students in any degree programme because of the academic irregularities, negligence and non-compliance.
These institutes include Preston Institute of Management Sciences and Technology (PIMSAT) Karachi, Imperial College of Business Studies, Lahore, Global Institute, Lahore as well as Al-Khair University Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

This strict action was taken by HEC after the educational institutes had been sent continuous reminders, asking them to overwhelm the ‘lacks’ but without success.
Along with the main campuses, sub-campuses of these varsities, branches or the affiliated colleges have also been asked to not admit the aspirants at any level and in any programme.
The Higher Education Commission Review Panels, in compliance along with the charge of the prime minister, visited these varsities crosswise the country last year to review the quality assurance as well as governance practices.

The Pakistani universities that had failed to fulfill the set criteria by the commission were given a deadline by which to overwhelm the deficiencies.
“Though, these educational institutes have still not complied (along with the directions) in spite of the reminders and, hence, have been asked to stop enrolling the aspirants in all of their academic programmes,”a notification issued by higher education commission stated.
It also says:
“As a practice, the commission regularly issues parent as well as student alerts in national and also in local newspapers and also through social media, warning the public to check the list of recognized educational institutes as well as accredited programmes from the official website of higher education commission.
“The aspirants are constantly warned that the higher education commission will not attest degrees or certificates get from these universities or institutes asking for their affiliation.”
Higher education commission on its official website has posted lists of recognized and also of non-recognized higher education institutes wherefrom parents as well as the aspirants can check the status of an institute they consider for admission.
