Islamabad: Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad, introduced the first space summer school of Pakistan underneath the theme of Space Technology Education and Popularization (STEP) on July 17, 2017.

Institute of Space Technology (IST) is hosting approximately 300 aspirants of over 75 schools and colleges of Pakistan in this summer space school.

Space Summer School (SSS) is a one week long activity which is based on learning covering over 50 collaborating sessions in 10 assessment tracks for aspirants in 2 levels as abecedarian and virtuoso.

Along with lectures, the school will have a context of space themed activities, practical workshops, mockups, demonstrations, laboratory visits, seminars, webinars, career counseling gatherings, competitions, societal events, themed dinner as well as astronomy night.

The opening ceremony was organized by the overseer of Space Summer School, Danial Amin. The Deputy Director Student Affairs Najam Abbas welcomed the partakers as well as highlighted the theme of Summer Space School under the initiative of STEP.

He also put stress on the importance of space technology for Pakistan and acknowledged Summer School Space a significant milestone towards space programme of Pakistan.

The chief guest of the ceremony, chairperson of Pakistan Science Foundation Dr M Ashraf applauded the initiative of Institute of Space Technology for establishing awareness regarding space technology among the young generation and educating the aspirants regarding the advantages of space technology.
