RAWALPINDI, A documentary film festival was organised here on Friday at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) on the occasion of 20th anniversary of the convention on the rights of children.
According to an official press release, the festival was organised by Department of Communication Sciences while the documentaries were provided by the Unicef.
The short documentaries were aimed at realising and promoting child rights. The main objective of the festival was to generate awareness of the child rights, plan future actions and enable students to act as strong advocates of children rights in Pakistan.
During the festival a Bengali Film titled “A Kind of Childhood” was showed to the students of Communication Sciences, Gender Studies and Bachelors of Computer Arts. The film entails the life story of a Bengali child Idris documenting the complexities of balance and survival in a unique and personal story of ‘childhood’ experience.
The FJWU Radio VOW (FM 96.6 Mhz) also broadcast a special transmission to mark the day. Different reports and programmes based on creating awareness on child rights were also aired.
