Eid ul Adha is the second of two major Islamic holidays, and is celebrated to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) on God's command.On this day, Muslims around the world sacrifice animals and distribute the meat to the poor and needy.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon on Monday 19th June 2023, paving the way for the declaration of Eid holidays.


Government's Decision and Circular for Eid ul Adha 2023 Holidays

According to the press release issued by the government, the Prime Minister has approved the declaration of 27th June to 1st July 2023 (Tuesday to Saturday) as public holidays for Eid ul Adha. These holidays will allow individuals and families to come together, perform religious rituals, and participate in community activities associated with the festival. The extended break provides an excellent opportunity for people to rejuvenate and celebrate in the spirit of Eid.

 

Extended Holiday Period for Eid ul Adha 2023

The government has officially announced an extended holiday period for Eid ul Adha 2023, providing citizens with a much-needed break to celebrate and observe the religious festival. The decision was made in accordance with the Cabinet Division's Circular No.10432/2022-Min-II issued on 1st December 2022, which outlines the public and optional holidays for the year 2023. Eid ul Adha on 10th Dhu al-Hijjah

Eid ul Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar, following the completion of Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca).
