Karachi: Higher Education Commission (HEC) has finally selected a name for the permanent executive director of the regulatory body after the time period of almost 18-20 months.

The governing body of Pakistan approved the name of Dr Arshad Ali, the former Director of National Textile University, Faisalabad and the founding Principal of NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), as the Executive Director of Higher Education Commission.

The governing committee of Higher Education Commission had approved the selection of Dr Arshad Ali as the executive director during its 31st meeting organized on January 11th, 2016.

Dr. Arshad Ali has been adorned by the government of Pakistan along with Pride of Performance owing to his creative as well as tactical thinking and proven academic leadership abilities and also his involvement in academics and research for more than 33 years.

The newly appointed executive director of HEC, Dr Arshad Ali has also been awarded along with Sitara-e-Imtiaz that would be bestowed upon him on 23rd March, 2016.

Having Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University Of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr Arshad Ali has more than 100 publications to his credit in the national and international conferences as well as journals.

Moreover, he has been granted along with gold medal by Pakistan Academy of Sciences and COMSTECH for Information Technology research, and with Presidents’ Gold Medal for being the Best NUST Researcher of the Year 2005.
