Islamabad: The Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rahman on Wednesday stated that strengthening as well as improving the outreach of social safety webs for the poor was the first importance of the government.
While speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a computer lab in Women Empowerment Centre (WEC) of Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM), she claimed that the role of PBM in helping the vulnerable segments for their economic raise and social prosperity was highly admirable.
Anusha Rahman said that advanced IT laboratories will permit the young girls to get skill training for economic empowerment totally free.
She urged the apsirants to work hard and get armed along with the advanced technologies to become economically stable as well as independent.
Tariq Fazal appreciated the PBM MD for playing an impressive role for women enablement via arming them along with the IT as well as other contemporary skills.
The Managing Director of Pakistan Baitul Mal Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh said the Pakistan Baitul Mal was taking important steps for materializing the commitment of present government for extending maximum support to the underprivileged regions of the society.
He said almost 154 WECs were presently providing services for women empowerment in Pakistan, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan.

During last four years, those centres had been refurbished along with the launch of advanced technologies for meeting the challenges of the modern world, he said.
Barrister Abid said approximately 11,000 learners were presently enrolled along with the centres whereas approximately 160,000 women had already benefitted from them.
He also said that the Pakistan Baitul Malwas establishing computer labs in association along with the Ministry of IT and Universal Service Fund whereas Microsoft was training the teachers of WECs.
