CM announces plan for 100,000 laptops distribution

Lahore, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the country can be put on the road to progress and prosperity by equipping the new generation with modern knowledge. He said the Punjab government was pursuing a strategy for promotion of information technology in the province and giving laptops to students.

He disclosed that after IT labs, a programme of distribution of 100,000 laptops among the talented male and female students of the province had been chalked out and like the IT labs, the process of distribution of laptop computers would also be completed in a transparent manner.

The chief minister was presiding over a meeting held to review the progress of the programme of distribution of laptops to exceptional students of the province at Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Saturday. CM said that distribution of laptops was a revolutionary step of Punjab government through which an opportunity would be available to the students to benefit from modern technology and carrying out research and educational activities. He said the process of distribution of laptops was being started soon.

Earlier, chairman Planning & Development and chairman Punjab Information Technology Board informed about the implementation of laptops programme and the details regarding the steps taken for the purpose. Punjab Minister for Education Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, secretaries of Education and Information and chairman Punjab Information Technology Board also attended the meeting.
