Allama Iqbal Open University To Offer Free Matriculation Education

Allama Iqbal Open University has announced to offer free matriculation education to the students of Gilgit Baltistan. From the spring semester of 2021, the students will be able to continue to study in matric free of cost. According to the university officials, the new admissions will be commenced from 15th January and the decision will be applicable from the admission of the spring semester 2021. Earlier the university had also declared to provide free education to the students of the merged districts i.e Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and Balochistan. The main aim is to give equal educational opportunities and facilities to all the students regardless of their physical location. 

Statement of Vice-Chancellor

The vice-chancellor of AIOU, Prof Dr. Zia Ul- Qayyum has made this announcement and said the university always ensures to facilitate the students in academics. So the authorities took this decision to support the students as it is the basic right for every person to get an education. He further added the AIOU is playing a significant role to promote distant learning in the country and enhancing the literacy rate. Moreover, due to the lack of resources, many people remain unable to get an education and as per the opinion of the vice-chancellor, no one should be deprived of this right. The Allama Iqbal Open University announces the various scholarships for the students throughout the year in which they can apply and get the chance to enjoy the benefits provided to them such as a reduction in the tuition fee. Thousands of students avail of scholarships and meet the educational expenses. 

Educational Facilities

There are various areas of Pakistan that are deprived of even the basic educational facilities. In this regard, the AIOU is working to assist the students as it will bear the expenses from the profit received from the endowment fund. Furthermore to care the awareness among the people the university will arrange several campaigns so every one can learn about the opportunity to get a free education.
