A wave of anguish and hatred has arised against NAB for handcuffing the former VC of Punjab University and registrars in the hearing. The CJP took notice of this matter personally and called the DG NAB and DIG operations to report the court. All Universities are observing “ Black Day”, for this defaming and derogatory act of NAB against teachers. The decision of calling a protest was decided in a meeting of Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association. FAPUASA President Dr Mahboob Hussain has announced that all the Universities of Pakistan will participate in the protest.

FAPUASA President expressed his grief on occuring of this act in an official statement, “We are teachers and we build nations. We are still least paid professionals. This behaviour is very humiliating as nothing has proved against them. Even proclaimed offenders and looters are not insulted in this way. We will not boycott the classes but will mark the black day with etiquette. All the organizations of colleges and universities will join us in this protest.”

The FAPUASA president also said that the teachers will attend classes while wearing black armbands and also black flags will be hoisted and black banners will be shown in all departments of Universities to show solidarity with the arrrested teachers.

A Teacher Is In The Court.

It will be appropriate to give reference of “Ashfaq Ahmed’s Book Zaviya” here, in which he narrated an incident ,when he was teaching in Italy. He used to teach in Roman University as a professor at day time and at night , he was doing a part-time job at a radio station. He narrates one night, it was late and the roads were empty, so he made a short cut in a road which was not permitted. A Sargent saw him and fined him with a Challan. He tells that he forgot to pay the Challan and the Italian court sent notices to him for three days and now he had to appear in the court to pay the Challan. He tells that he was afraid as it was a foreign country and foreign people and he was not fully aware of there system. When he appeared in the court, before the judge. The judge asked him about his profession, to which he replied , “ I am a Professor”. The Judge left his chair and stood up in his regard and also proclaimed twice, "The Teacher is in the court".

He said everyone in the court stood up and I was given a chair to sit on and was also requested to be seated “please”. The judge and other judicial members dealt with him in utter respect and the judge even came to see him off to his car.

Teachers are reformers of the nations. They are the ones who shape our future.Roman people can be said as the pioneers of the oldest educational institutes. The respect given to teachers there is definitely key of their nation’s success. A judge stands in respect of a teacher in Italy and he is a given seat to sit on inspite of committing a law offense. What can we Expect from the nation where the teachers are brought handcuffed , even though they are still investigated not proven guilty yet?.
