Allama Iqbal Open University has taken the steps to promote the online library culture for broadcasting of knowledge to the large number of people.

The Vice Chancellor of the university Dr. Shahid Siddiqui during his address at the seminar said that these steps are basically aimed at improving the accessibility of Central library of the Allama Iqbal Open University to the aspirants to do their academic research work even also when they are sitting in their homes and at workplaces. This seminar was organized in association along with the Distinguished Lecture Series of Allama Iqbal Open University, yesterday.

The prominent educationist as well as the PhD scholar in library sciences Professor Muhammad Raman was the main speaker at the event. He conversed on ‘Innovations in libraries through web-technology’.

Dr. Shahid Siddiqui during his address said that the Central library that is open for the public is further promoted through android as well as the digital system. He also added that the promotion of the online library is imperious to promote the research-based study.

He said that the university is paying its full attention on indigenous-and community-based research plus its broadcasting to the end users and policy-makers for the betterment of the society. The timing of the library has been extended and from now the library will remain open for the public from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on all working days also involving the Saturdays.
