Islamabad: Large number of students of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) have started receiving CDs together with text-books of various academic programs from matric to BA level that serve as supportive learning material especially relating to English, Islamiat and Teaching of English as a Foreign Language(TEFL) subjects.
As per the mailing department, the procedure of sending books has been started on fast-track basis so as to complete it till the end of June. Mailing department was meeting the target of timeline of book’s mailing on the commands of AIOU Vice Chancellor, Professor. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui.
So far, almost five lakh and seventy thousand students have been provided with books accompanied by the allied material. To speed up the procedure, Mailing Department was actively engaged, working day and night in two shifts.
Recently, a new computerized tracking system has also been introduced, facilitating its thousands of aspirants to check out the mailing status of books.

For this purpose, university’s new website (mailing.aiou.edu.pk) has recently been launched by Vice Chancellor. Now students can easily check books’ mailing status simply by entering his / her roll number or admission’s challan number in the mail box.
In order to advance the mailing system, it was also decided to send text message to aspirants on their cell phone as soon as books are dispatched on given postal address.
The related staff has also been advised to confirm the perfection of mailing system to avoid any inconvenience at the students’ level, said Vice Chancellor.
