ACCA exemption on cards for GCU graduates

Lahore: The graduates of Government College University (GCU) will get some release in Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exams, according to the association’s global accreditation policy under the signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the premises of university on Friday.

According to the press release, university and the ACCA Pakistan had agreed to take into account the exempting graduates of the university four-year bachelor’s degree programmes in commerce, business or accounting and finance from ACCA papers F1-F9 if they look out to chase ACCA qualifications.

This MoU was signed by Vice chancellor of Government College University Hassan Amir Shah and chairperson of ACCA Pakistan Sajjeed Aslam at a ceremony organized at the Syndicate Committee Room of University.

The Research Director of GCU Ikramul Haq, University’s Academic Planning and External Links Director Fauzia Shaheen, head of Economics Department Uzair Ahson as well as Deans Raiz Ahmed, Islam Ullah Khan and Dr Shahid Iqbal were also present on the event.

While addressing on the event, Sajjeed Aslam, who was also a GCU graduate, said that after revising the courses taught at the GCU his association will make a decision on the number of exams for which immunity could be granted. In the best case situation, he stated, GCU graduates will be granted immunity for nine ACCA papers.

He moreover said, “The ACCA Pakistan is pleased to partner along with a respected higher educational institute. ACCA Pakistan produces over 120 research papers annually. I hope that the partnership will assist us in enhancing our research based work”.

The Vice Chancellor of University Dr Shah said the ACCA Pakistan and the institute had a shared interest in development of finance profession in Pakistan and permitting the experienced individuals to improve their career projections by attaining the internationally recognised education qualifications. 

According to the MoU, GCU and ACCA Pakistan will also cooperate with one another on joint research projects.  It also said that the apsirants of Government College University as well as its faculty members will be invited to contribute articles or case studies for ACCA magazines and the international journals. These two organizations also agreed to conduct the joint seminars and sessions as well.
