Academicians from US visit AIOU

The senior American academicians together with the authorities of State Department and US Embassy in Islamabad visited the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) yesterday and also appreciated the academic work of the university.

After having comprehensive discussion along with the Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Shahid Siddiqui as well as taking round of different departments of the University, they labeled the educational standard of Allama Iqbal Open University as the highly impressive and also supportive for the aspirants. They predominantly praised the community as well as the research-based academic programs undertaken by Dr. Siddiqui and also by his team.

This visit took place under the supervision of ‘Pakistan Distance Education Enhancement’ project as well as the cooperative partnership among AIOU and San Jose State University. The allocation comprises of the project director Professor Mark Adams, Professor Jason A. Laker, Dr. Muhammad Saleem, Ms. Natiqa Nadeem, Cultural Affairs specialist US embassy, Neal Morata, Deputy Cultural affairs officer and last but not least Richard Boyom from Washington D.C.

Another member of delegation Professor Jason said that the two Universities had great potential to learn from each other to meet their future targets in education sector. The two sides could particularly share their experience about new educational methods and E-learning/online study.

He said he was highly impressed by the creative and innovative ideas of the Vice Chancellor for expanding educational facilities for their people and serving the society through education. He said he found Dr. Shahid Siddiqui as most impressive educationist who had visionary approach in educational field, hoping that the University will emerge more powerful institution under his leadership.

The delegation also visited the Accessibility Centre established at Central Library of the University for offering the educational facilities to diminish the aspirants. Professor Mark Adams said that “We are highly enthused to watch out few special aspirants working in the centre, our heart filled along with joy”.
