Karachi: The confusion regarding the exams of 9th and 10th class came to an end on Sunday evening as Karachi board announced that exams would be conducted in two phases.

Teachers will be performing duties in the upcoming survey exercise and that’s why there was confusion about how exams will be conducted.

BISE Karachi board organized a meeting to come up along with a solution, after which the chairman of BSEK, Prof Dr Saeeduddin, briefed the media regarding decisions.

As per the chairperson of Karachi board, the annual exams will be held in two stages. In the first stage, annual exams of general and private groups would be conducted between March 28th, 2017 and April 15th, 2017 whereas the exams of science group would be held between April 15th, 2017 and May 3rd, 2017.

“The decision of taking exams in two stages was taken because of the shortage of faculty,” he added, explaining that a lot of their teaching faculty is busy in the national census and performing duties there.

As per the board chairman, the private zone did not help a lot in this situation.

He furthermore announced that they have completed all the essential arrangements for the exams to start from the scheduled dates that were decided by the steering committee.

“For the first time, the board has established 5 centres for the distribution of admits cars and date sheets on time,” Dr Saeeduddin said, adding that approximately 353,466 students will be appearing in the 9th and 10 10th class annual exams this year, which is 5 percent more as compared to earlier academic years.

During press conference, he said that 82 examination centres have been established for 45,186 students of general group, out of which 49 examination centres are for girls while 33 examination centres are for boys.

For science group, total 308,280 candidates have registered, out of which 150,801 are male while 157,479 are female.

As per BSEK chairman, 318 examination centres have been established for science exams with 173 for boys and 145 for girls.

While conversing he also told media that there are 122 centres that have been established in private schools.
