The 8th class annual results have officially been declared, revealing a historic clean sweep by the Punjab Danish Schools (PDS) network . Students from Danish Schools have bagged all top three positions, showcasing the growing strength of public sector educational institutions in the province.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat officially inaugurated the online portal to view the results earlier this morning. The announcement marks a pivotal moment as it is the first time in several years that standardized board-style exams have been conducted for the 8th grade across the province.
In an extraordinary display of academic excellence, the top three positions in the Punjab 8th class annual examinations were secured exclusively by students from Danish Schools:
First Position: Iqra Khan , a student of Danish School Mianwali (Girls) , secured the top rank with an impressive 364 marks .
Second Position: Rumisa Iman of Danish School Attock (Girls) followed closely, obtaining 358.5 marks .
Third Position: Fatima Bibi of Danish School Hasilpur (Girls) claimed the third spot with 358 marks .
The outstanding performance of these students highlights the success of the Punjab government’s initiative to provide quality education to underprivileged districts through the Danish School system.
The overall pass rate for the 8th grade across Punjab has been recorded at 88 percent , signaling a healthy academic outcome despite the return to rigorous board-style assessments.
According to official data released by the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC):
Total students appeared: 894,000
Total students passed: 782,000
Total students failed: 110,000
These figures indicate that while the majority of students succeeded, a significant number will need additional academic support moving forward.
In a revolutionary step for the country’s education sector, the Punjab government introduced machine marking for examination papers. Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized that this was the first time in Pakistan’s history that such technology had been deployed for paper checking.
“For the first time in Pakistan, we have ensured transparency through machine marking . The old manual system often led to delays and human errors. With this new automated system, every answer sheet has been evaluated without any bias,” said the Minister.
He further announced that machine marking will also be implemented for matriculation and intermediate papers in the upcoming examination cycles.
In a groundbreaking development, the Education Minister revealed that AI (Artificial Intelligence) was also utilized in the assessment process. This marks the first time in Pakistan’s educational history that AI has been integrated into the marking system to ensure accuracy and fairness.
Additionally, QR codes were placed on all examination papers to ensure full traceability. “QR codes help in the complete tracing of examination papers from the examination hall to the final marking center. This eliminates the risk of paper leaks or tampering,” Minister Hayat explained.
The 8th class exams were conducted under the supervision of the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) on a board-style basis. The Education Minister noted that this shift was designed to better assess the true performance level of students ahead of their matriculation exams.
“We have started board-style examinations for 8th class to prepare students for the challenges of 9th and 10th grades. This will improve the overall quality of education in Punjab,” he said.
Recognizing the hard work involved in transitioning to the new digital marking system, the Education Minister also announced a special honorarium for the assessment team . The financial incentive aims to boost morale among examiners who adapted to the AI-powered machine marking technology under tight deadlines.
Students from public schools across Punjab can check their 8th class annual results online through the official portal:
Parents and students are advised to use the QR code printed on their roll number slips to verify their marks and download a certified copy of the result from the portal.

The successful completion of the 8th class board exams and the introduction of machine marking and AI-based assessment set a new benchmark for educational transparency in Pakistan. With Danish Schools leading the academic rankings, the Punjab government has demonstrated that targeted investment in public education yields tangible results.
As the province prepares for the next academic year, all eyes will now be on how these technological reforms are rolled out for the matriculation and intermediate examinations.
