Lahore: The procedure for the promotion of 700 women assistant professors from BPS-18 to 19 has been completed after successions of meetings. The proposals have been sent to the chief Minister of Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for final approval after which the notification will soon be issued by the Higher Education Department of Punjab.

The Punjab Higher Education Department had sent the proposals as well as the working papers of 811 women assistant professors to the Provincial Selection Board-II(PSB-II) to which the final recommendations for promotion of 700 women assistant professors to next grade have been sent to the Punjab CM, while the promotion of women teachers who continued on long leave and incomplete record has been postponed.

The local Selection Board has also decided to issue the show-cause notices to those women assistant professors who are undetectable. Furthermore, the Chief Secretary Shumail Ahmad Khawaja said that the promotion of 700 women assistant professors to grade 19 at the same time is a record in the history of Punjab.

Moreover, as per the combined seniority list, the promotion of more 400 male assistant professors as the associate professors fulfilling the required conditions is also under procedure. A meeting of Provincial Selection Board-II to be headed by the chairperson Shumail Ahmad Khawaja for the promotion of 108 male teachers as well as the 70 female teachers of grade 18 to grade 19 would be organized in the last week of this month.
