6 million children in Sindh are still out of school, says CM Murad

Karachi: 6 million children in Sindh are still out of school, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah accepted this fact on Tuesday.

During his address on a seminar regarding education he said that province might have led others in passing article 25-a in the assembly, a law which gave the surety of free education for children aged between five and 16 as a fundamental right, however it has lagged behind when it comes to its enactment.

The chief minister furthermore said that the state of education in Sindh was being dealt with on an emergency basis.

He also said that in the provincial budget education department gets a share of lion. Though, the experts argue that these funds remain mainly unutilized.

“We are required to provide basic facilities to every school located in Sindh,” he said, adding that he had given his own powers to the education minister so that he would be able to handle the pressing issue.
