’39 government schools to be made vocational institutes’

Lahore: Punjab Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood has said that the government has decided to introduce technical and vocational education as a subject from 8^th class in government sector schools.

Almost 39 comprehensive high schools in various districts across the province will be converted as the vocational training institutes.

He shared his views on Tuesday, while presiding over a meeting at the committee room of Industries Department in Civil Secretariat.

The Punjab Minister for Industries Sheikh Allauddin, Chairperson of TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Chief Executive Officer of Punjab Skills Development Fund Jawad Khan, Secretary Industries Dr Mujtaba Paracha and also the representatives of line departments were also present in the meeting.

The meeting looks over the establishment of technical and vocational educational university in Punjab.

Rana Mashhood informed the meeting that technical education will be introduced in association along with TEVTA and revealed that this facility will be provided in Daanish Schools.

Rana Mashhood furthermore said that a Chinese delegation will visit Pakistan up to 15 June so that required spadework regarding the set-up, faculty selection, research as well as syllabus could be decided.

The Chinese professionals will also train the faculty members so that they can provide valuable education as well as training to their aspirants.

At the initial stage, the awareness regarding technical education will be included in the syllabus from 3^rd and 4^th standard.

The vocational training programme begins from middle and goes up to the university level in China, he added.

This model will be take on board in Punjab and the mandatory aid of technical education commission of China will be asked, informed the minister.

Sheikh Allauddin hoped that this project will facilitate the youth as well as the aspirants will be able to earn their income by learning valuable skills.
