3000 job offer letters cancelled by CM Sindh

Sukkur, Recruitment of 3,000 employees in grade-1 to 15 in Jacobabad education department have been declared illegal and cancelled cancel all offer letters on the commands of Sindh chief minister.

The chief minister and secretary of services, general administration and coordination department had ordered to Jacobabad Deputy Commissioner Rafique Ahmad Buriro, to cancel all offer letters issued by a district education officer, Mohammad Shan Brohi, said sources in the education department.

Later, Mr Buriro issued a notification, declaring as irregular and unlawful recruitment of all 3,000 employees. It said the district education officer had made the appointments without informing or pursuing agreement of chairman of the district recruitment committee.

From then onwards, all recruitments in the department would be made under supervision of chairman and members of the committee and no offer letter would be issued without permission of the committee head, said the notification.

He told journalists in Jacobabad that the education officer had avoided the committee and other officials concerned by making direct appointments.

The sources said that the DC had written a letter to the provincial secretary of education, recommending transfer of the district education officer.

An employee said that the notification has dropped like a bomb on the 3,000 aspirants of government jobs. They had paid millions of rupees to officials concerned mostly through middlemen to buy the jobs but their offer letters were still with these distributors.

Most of them had arranged the inducement money by selling cattle, property or valuables or borrowed it on heavy mark-up from money lenders.

The middlemen had escaped after cancellation of letters, leaving them high and dry, he said.

Jacobabad Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Nizamuddin Almani said that he had not so far received copy of the notification from the DC or the education department about cancellation of offer letters. Fitness certificates had so far been issued to about 2,400 candidates on the recommendation of the education department, he said.
