239 graduates, postgraduates awarded degrees at NUST convocation

Undergraduate and graduate convocation of School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME), Atta-ur-Rehman School of Applied Bioscience (ASAB) and School of Natural Sciences (SNS) was organized at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) main campus at H-12, Islamabad. Approximately 239 graduates and postgraduates were granted along with the degrees.

The chairman of Millat Tractor Limited Sikandar Mustafa Khan participated as the chief guest on the occasion. Between the others that were present on the occasion were the principal of NUST Muhammad Asghar, senior management of the university, some well-known guests, faculty, aspirants as well as the parents of the graduates.

In the convocation, 49 BE Mechanical Engineering, 41 MS Mechanical or Design and Manufacturing Engineering or Bio Medical Engineering or Robotics as well as Intelligent Machine Engineering from SMME, 17 BS Bio Sciences, 40 MS Healthcare Biotechnology or the Industrial Biotechnology or Plant Biotechnology from ASAB and 20 BS Mathematics, 40 MPhil Mathematics from SNS were granted along with their degrees. The Gold Medal of President was granted to the 16 aspirants (five from SMME, six from SNS and five from ASAB) for the best academic performance. The Silver Medal of the Chancellor was granted to the three aspirants (one each from each school) from being second best in the academics.

 The two aspirants (one from each SMME and ASAB) obtained the Gold Medal of the Principal for best projects. Best Teacher as well as Best Researcher from each school was also granted along with the certificates. The best community service award was awarded to the two faculty members (one from each AMME and ASAB).

During his address, the chief guest felicitated the graduates and also their proud parents. He was all acclaims for NUST for having won a respectable position between the elite universities of the world in a very short period of time.

During his address to the gathering, the principal of NUST Muhammad Asghar also congratulated the fresh graduates. He moreover said that it is the result of the unremitting contributions that are made by the faculty of the university, staff as well as by the aspirants that NUST was graded between the top 550 universities of the world. He made special mention of Higher Education Commission for supporting NUST in its fast-paced development.
