SHEIKHUPURA, Thirteen people were injured in a clash between students and transporters on the Lahore-Sharaqpur Road, some 32km away from here, near the city bus stand on Wednesday.
Traffic also remained suspended for about three hours on the road owing to the clash.
Reports said college students became infuriated when transporters did not allow them to board their vehicles. The students gathered at the lorry adda and pelted buses and wagons with stones damaging many vehicles and injuring some passengers.
When two shopkeepers asked the protesting students not to damage the vehicles, they also set their shops to fire. Some 10 students and three transporters were injured in the clash.
District nazim Mian Jalil Ahmad accompanied by a police contingent reached the spot and got restored traffic after holding talks with the students and transporters.
The nazim ordered the police not to register a case.
Case: Ferozewala police on Wednesday registered a case against the owner of an under-construction skimmed milk factory on GT Road near Kala Shah Kaku.
Three labourers — Arshad, Qasim and Kashif had died a few days back when an LPG cylinder exploded in the factory of Jamshed Ahmed, a retired colonel.
Police held the owner responsible for the incident as the LPG cylinder was
not only of substandard quality but was also installed improperly.
