Overview

Masters in Women's Studies provide a solid grounding in interdisciplinary women's studies, emphasizing gendered aspects of cultural life, representation and textual enquiry and determine to expose students to an interdisciplinary range of conceptual, theoretical and methodological approaches to and debates within women's studies .This master degree programme fosters the development of a critical, self-reflexive and independent approach to research and scholarship, as well as the acquisition of transferable skills .It attempts to challenge traditional structures of knowledge about gender and also, the usual ways in which we learn. Women's Studies draw on many disciplines, including sociology, literature, history, psychology and politics, and is accessible to students whose previous academic backgrounds are in any area. Students are encouraged to reflect on their own life experiences and combine this with theoretical insights that cross discipline boundaries.

Admission Requirements

Requirements for Masters in Women's Studies:

  • Candidate should have 14 years of education.
  • Candidates should have graduate degree from recognized college or university.
  • A background in a social science will be a plus point but not essential feature.
  • Candidates who are more than 26 years old shall not be entitled for admissions unless relaxation is granted by the Vice Chancellor for special reasons on the recommendations of the Chairman.
  • Foreign students must route their applications through the Ministry of Education, Government of Pakistan.
  • Admission will be made on merit, subject to the regional quota.
