National Fertilizer Corporation Institute of Engineering and Technology Multan (NFC-IET)

OVERVIEW:

National Fertilizer Corporation Institute of Engineering and Technology Multan (NFC-IET) is a public sector, federally licensed degree-awarding Institution located in Multan, Pakistan. NFC-IET offers undergraduate education in the fields of engineering Science & Technology, NFC-IET provides a highly competitive educational environment with outstanding faculty and is ranked among the top Pakistani engineering education institutes.

Outstanding engineering sciences and relevant study programs are offered at NFC-IET with the most up-to-date curriculum. The university is offering BS and BSC. Degrees in the field of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, Biotechnology, computer science and business administration.

HISTORY:

To overcome the lacking of trained manpower at National Fertilizer Corporation especially for the chemical process industry, a Training Center was established in 1985which was technically assisted by M/s. COSMO International Co., Ltd., Japan. At that time, The Center was engaged to train engineers, supervisors, operators/ technicians and other administrative staff through contemporary multi-dimensional programs with an up to date and comprehensive structure that can teach current variations in content and duration for all types of process and engineering aspects.

Later, the training program has been upgraded to be in line with the education policy announced by the Government of Pakistan, and thus, NFC with the approval of Ministry of Industries & Production, Government of Pakistan promoted their training centre in 1994 by starting graduate engineering classes in Chemical Engineering and is then called “NFC Institute of Engineering & Technological training”. To continue this progress, two more subjects: Electronics Engineering and Computer System Engineering were introduced in 2001, subsequently, a four-year BS Program in Computer Science, and a four-year BS Program in Environmental Sciences was commenced in 2008 and 2011 respectively.

Afterwards, degree programs were introduced at NFC IET under the administration of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).

Consequently NFC IET is awarded the chartered of Federal Degree Awarding Institute in 2012 and Prof. Dr. Malik Akhtar Ali Kalrou is appointed as its first Vice Chancellor. Since then,NFC IET is constantly introducing new programs. Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture Design were started in 2013. NFC IET has also started research based postgraduate programs in Chemical Process Engineering and Electrical Power Engineering in 2016.

Facilities at NFC IET:

To cater the co-curricular needs of the learning students, various societies were established at the institutes. These societies encourage and motivate students to bring up fresh ideas and to develop the creative skills. The student societies at NFC-IET are:

A career counseling office has been set up at the Institute to guide the students towards successful career planning. The office holds complete database of engineering graduates. The students are informed about new vacancies moreover guidance is also provided to develop their CV's and other requirements. The Department has excellent computer facilities with exclusive software. The digital library contains every resource that is needed during the studies. The institute believes in the productive interaction between academia and industry and to implement this concept, internships at the industry are offered to the students.

Mission:

The mission of the institute is to establish a well-built knowledge based economy. The team at the institute is looking forward to explore marvels of science and technology. The institute attempts to create highly skilled manpower in the country with all technological skills. This motivation will convert impervious population of the country into value added human capital. Thus young talents of the country are polished at NFC-IET who are then ready to face the recent technological challenges. Moreover, the institute aims to transform the nation into a prosperous, dignified and a self reliance country by the end of this decade. The institute is bound to make all advancements that can flourish the scientific education.
