CIMA CERTIFICATE IN BUISNESS ACCOUNTING

The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting (Cert BA) is an entry level qualification that helps people with little or no accounting experience to be able to reveal their true business potential through teaching core business and finance skills that goes beyond the simple financial accounting. The Cert BA is a qualification and forms a formal entry route into the CIMA Professional Qualification.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

There are no entry requirements for the Cert. BA, just a good understanding of English and Mathematics. However, 16 years and above is a must age requirement for the entry in Cert. BA.

SUBJECTS

The Cert BA consists of four subjects:

BA1 FUNDAMENTALS OF BUISNESS ECONOMICS

BA1 focuses on the economic and operating context of business and how the factors of competition, the behavior of financial markets and government economic policy can influence an organization. It also deals with the information available to assist management in evaluating and forecasting the behavior of consumers, markets and the economy in general

Students will gain an understanding of the areas of economic activity relevant to an organization’s decisions and, within this context, the numerical techniques to support such decisions.

BA1 FUNDAMENTALS OF BUISNESS ECONOMICS

BA2 FUNDAMENTALS OF MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING

BA2 teaches students fundamental knowledge and techniques that underpin management accounting. It identifies the position of the management accountant within organizations and the role of CIMA. The subject portrays the role of management accounting in the contexts of commercial and public sector bodies and its wider role in society.

BA1 FUNDAMENTALS OF BUISNESS ECONOMICS

BA3 FUNDAMENTALS OF FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

In BA3 students will obtain a practical understanding of financial accounting and the process behind the preparation of financial statements for single entities.

These statements are prepared within a conceptual and regulatory framework requiring an understanding of the role of legislation and of accounting standards. The need to understand and apply necessary controls for accounting systems, and the nature of errors is also covered. There is an introduction to measuring financial performance with the calculation of basic ratios.

BA1 FUNDAMENTALS OF BUISNESS ECONOMICS

BA4 FUNDAMENTALS OF ETHICS, CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND BUSINESS LAW

In BA4 students will gain an understanding of the professional standards to be demonstrated for the benefit of all stakeholders. With this in mind, the place of ethics and ethical conflict is an essential underpinning for commercial activity. It includes the role of corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and audit; and their increasing impact in the management of organisations. Wherever business is conducted the legal and administrative framework underpins commercial activity. With this in mind the areas of contract law, employment law, administration and management of companies is considered.

BA1 FUNDAMENTALS OF BUISNESS ECONOMICS

EXAMS

Cert BA Objective Tests are 120 minutes (2 hours) long, computer based that you can take in any order and are available on demand all year round and there are four windows throughout the year for Case Study exams. All of our Cert BA and Professional exams are available at over 6,000 Pearson VUE assessment centers worldwide.

AVAILABILITY

There are no start and end dates for the Cert BA, you can register and start studying all year round.

LENGTH OF QUALIFICATION

Approximately 12-18 months. This will mainly depend on your prior knowledge and availability to study.

WORK EXPERIENCE

No work experience is needed for the entry in Cert. BA.

DESIGNATORY LETTERS

Once you have qualified, you will be able to use the designatory letters ‘CIMA Cert BA’ to show your new skills. Next you have the choice to move on to the “CIMA Professional Qualification” – the next step towards becoming a CGMA designation holder.

EXEMPTIONS

You may be exempt from certain exams in the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting and CIMA Professional Qualification if you hold a relevant degree or qualification.
