Murder of Merit

I want to draw your attention to an issue which we can call The Murder of Merit. News about University of Education are in media now a day as students are protesting against the great loss of university as well as of Pakistan. One of the interesting information of this Govt Sector University is that the VC Mrs. Farhat, who has been appointed by Punjab Govt a few months earlier, is also the student of this University. If I am not wrong it is the very 1st case in the history of Universities world wide. On 17th of January 2011 one of the pioneers of this university Director of Division of Science & Technology, Dr. Muhamad Anwar ur Rehman Pasha has been terminated by the VC along with his wife Dr. Shaheen Pasha who was a professor in department of Education of the same university. A known issue of this action is that Dr. Pasha is the member of that board who approves Ph. D degree & Mrs. Farhat is looking for the same from this university which she serves as VC. She wants Dr. Pasha to approve her degree without any check. Also, Mrs. Farhat is the chairperson of that board who will approve her own Ph. D. Degree. Now there is no Gold Medal Foreign Qualified teacher in this university.

Imagine, the corruption level in our public sector universities which are responsible to bring a bright future by producing highly skilled personals.

Dr. Pasha & his wife Dr. Shaheen Pahsa are no doubt the assets of Pakistan. Dr. Pasha is Ph. D. from department of Computer Science, University of Southampton, UK. & Dr. Shaheen Pasha also completed her Ph. D degree from the same university. Dr. Pasha is Gold Medalist. He has already served Punjab University College of Information Technology as Principal from 2002 to 2006.

Both are UK Nationality holders, left luxurious living & working environment of UK & came to Pakistan just to serve it.

"Is it not the Murder of Merit that an unqualified VC terminates a highly foreign qualified, Gold Medalist & experienced personality"

I salute those I.T students who raised voice against this unjustified decision of VC to let Pakistanis' know what asset they are going to loose.
