It is the wish of almost every pass out student to get the job at earliest so once shortlisted on the basis of Resume, the next task is to appear in the interview where not only you but lots of other contestants are being invited which can be known as your competitors. To secure the position and grab the job, here comes few tips to improve your interview skills.

1. Initial Preparations for interview

Before appearing in the interview, you must collect information about the company and the job description of the post you are invited for an interview. In addition to this, prepare your answers to the most common job questions and practice them as well with your friends or family members.

2. Neither be too Early nor too late for the interview

On the day of interview, be on time. Do not be late for the interview that ruins the first impression and do not be too early that also puts a wrong impression as if you have no work to do. Just be on time or 15 minutes earlier, get relaxed and perform well in the interview.

3. Dress up Professionally

Dress makes your physical appearance and it makes first impression and your first impression makes the mind of employer whether or not to select you for the job so dress up to win the game.

4. Do not bring your MP3 player, Coffee, Cold Drink to the Interview Desk

While going to the interview desk, do not bring your MP3 player, coffee mug, cold drink and anything like this because it does not make a good impression. In fact leave such things in the car or home. Donot forget to turn your cell phone off.

5. Don't Frown and give Weird Expressions

While asked different questions, do not frown or give weird expressions but bring your sense of humor and smile because undoubtedly smile is the best gesture and gives a good impression about your personality.

6. Display Confidence during the Interview but do not be Overconfident

During the interview, display confidence but do not act overconfidently like do not start the conversation and let the interviewer start the dialogue. Send a positive message with your body language and shake hands firmly, but only if a hand is offered to you first. During the interview, maintain a proper eye contact.

7. Do observe your body language

Do not make gestures and postures that are considered as unprofessional. Sit properly in front of interviewee and do not cross the legs. Do not touch your hair etc during the interview as it shows you are tensed and not confident.

8. Do not get Tensed with the Interviewee's Questions

Listen carefully to all the questions of interviewee and welcome all questions with a good smile even if they are not easy. However, if you could not understand the question, you may ask for it to be repeated and think before you respond to the questions by using appropriate language.

9. Always be truthful during the interview

Always answer questions truthfully, frankly and as concisely as possible. Do not make insulting remarks about your present or former employers, colleagues or companies as it does not make a good impression and leaves a bad impression about you. When you are ask for the past salary, be honest and truthful and do not lie about it.

10. End the Interview with a Good Impression

Not only the first impression, but the ending impression is also very important. A positive end to the interview is another way to ensure your success. Be courteous and allow the interview to end on time. You may ask several questions from interviewee like if there would be additional interviews and the plans to make a decision, salary, bonuses or holidays so that the interviewee gets an idea about your interest in the job.
