Broadband in Pakistan

The spread of internet technology around the world has changed people lives and behaviors. It is becoming essential part of our education, industry, business and many other aspects. The demand for better internet services is increasing exponentially. This gives birth to high bandwidth and larger data rate internet services with economical and reliable delivery to the customer.

DSL and Broadband services is a result of such demands. PTCL being the largest and elder transmission services provider in Pakistan took the intuitive to be the first one to introduce the internet service in the country. "Wateen Telecom" uses fiber optics to provide larger bandwidths. "Nayatel" and "Micronet Broadband" have started to introduce fiber linkages to customer end for greater bandwidths. "WiTribe" is introducing its broadband services using WiMAX technology and spread it wirelessly.

This creates a more close competition for PTCL. As a result, PTCL introduces EVO a wireless broadband service that uses 3G technology and provides greater data rates and bandwidths wirelessly. Now there is a close competition between values added services and service charges, which definitely will be beneficial to customer. PTCL has an edge over all of the existing competitors that its PSTN infrastructure exists throughout the country, even in the remote and unattended areas. So providing DSL services to those areas is much easy for PTCL as compared to other service providers.

In short, it is crystal clear fact that DSL broadband service is highly demanded and rapidly growing technology that has extremely high market trends.
