For Eligibility to Seek Enrolment to the Bar as an Advocate
The Education Testing Council (ETC) under the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan conducts the Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) for law graduates across Pakistan.
Qualifying the Law-GAT is mandatory for law graduates who wish to seek enrolment to the Bar as an Advocate, as per the requirements of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC).
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent.
Degree must be from a local or foreign university recognized by HEC/PBC.
The test consists of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs).

Total Marks: 100
Passing Marks: 50 out of 100 (50%)
Candidates must achieve at least 50% to qualify.
Applicants are allowed a maximum of 7 attempts to pass the test.

Test Date: Sunday, April 05, 2026
Law-GAT is conducted on a quarterly basis in major cities of Pakistan.

Upload a clear and recent passport-size photograph (white or blue background).
Pay the test fee via 1Link/1Bill Invoice Payment Services using the generated consumer number.
After fee submission, click “Verify Online Payment” on the ETC Dashboard.
Submit the application.
Applications left in Save or Incomplete mode will not be considered.
The fee is non-refundable.
The fee is non-transferable.
The generated consumer number remains valid until the closing date.
The test will be conducted in major cities of Pakistan.
Candidates must select their preferred test center carefully.
Test center cannot be changed after registration.
ETC reserves the right to change the test center if fewer than 250 candidates are registered at a location.

Email/SMS notifications will be sent.
SMS may not be delivered to numbers converted between networks; such candidates must check their email.

Taking, uploading, or sharing images of the question paper is strictly prohibited and punishable under ETC policy.
The following candidates are NOT eligible:
Those who have already availed 7 attempts.
Those currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
Those who have already qualified Law-GAT.

Applicants must resolve any registration queries at least three (03) days before the registration deadline. The system will not entertain complaints after the closure of the portal due to security and logistical reasons.
