🎓 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

PhD Programme

Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications:

• MPhil degree in Economics from an HEC-recognized university, OR

• MPHUMS (Economics) from a reputed foreign university, OR

• An equivalent degree, subject to submission of an Equivalence Certificate issued by the University of Karachi.

MS / MPhil Programme

Applicants must have:

• Sixteen (16) years of education in any discipline or an equivalent degree from an HEC-recognized university/institution.

Important Notes:

• Applicants holding degrees other than those awarded by Public Sector Universities of Pakistan must submit an Equivalence Certificate issued by the University of Karachi.

• Candidates awaiting final examination results may also apply at their own risk. Such candidates must submit their final transcript before the commencement of the second quarter.

📝 ADMISSION TEST REQUIREMENT

• All eligible candidates must qualify an Admission Test.

• The test may be conducted by NTS, or GRE (Advanced Economics Test) scores obtained within the last two years may be accepted in lieu of the admission test.

• Sample test papers are available on the AERC website.

PhD Programme

• Application Deadline: January 19, 2026

• Admission Test: February 01, 2026 – 10:00 AM

• Interviews: February 08, 2026

MS / MPhil Programme

• Application Deadline: January 19, 2026

• Admission Test: January 26, 2026 – 10:30 AM

• Interviews: January 28, 2026

💰 FEE & SCHOLARSHIP

• All admitted students are required to pay a monthly tuition fee.

• Limited scholarships may be awarded to selected MS/MPhil students based on:

  • Academic performance

  • Financial need

📄 APPLICATION PROCEDURE

• Submit a completed application form (available at the AERC Graduate Studies Programme Office).

• Application must be accompanied by a Cash/Pay Order:

  • Rs. 3,000 for MS/MPhil

  • Rs. 5,000 for PhD

• Applications must be received on or before January 18, 2026.
