University of Engineering and Technology Lahore – Combined Entrance Test (ECAT) 2026

Overview / Description

The Combined Entrance Test (ECAT) 2026 – First Session is conducted by the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (UET Lahore) for admission into B.Sc. Engineering, Computing, and other related disciplines offered by UET Lahore and other engineering institutions in Punjab, Pakistan.

Since 1999, UET Lahore has been conducting this entrance test under the directions of the Government of Punjab. According to the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), passing the ECAT is mandatory for admission into undergraduate engineering programs in both public and private engineering institutions.

Applicants may appear in multiple ECAT attempts, and the best score will be considered during the admission merit process.
The ECAT score will be valid for Fall 2026 admissions.

1. Orientation Session

Purpose

A 15-minute orientation session will be held to familiarize students with the computer-based test system.

Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026

Candidates will attend the session at the test center mentioned on their admit card.

2. Entrance Test Schedule

Test Dates:
Monday March 30, 2026 → Friday April 3, 2026

The test will be held at the above centers at the allotted time printed on the admit card.

Note:
Appearing in ECAT does not guarantee admission, but it is required to apply for engineering programs.

3. Eligibility

Anyone can appear in the ECAT.
However, appearing in the test does not automatically grant eligibility for admission to engineering institutions.

4. Entrance Test Fee & Token Generation

Applicants must visit the UET admissions portal.

The admit card contains:

  • Test date

Candidates must print the admit card.

Test Attendance Rules

Candidates must appear according to the assigned date, time, and venue.
If a candidate misses the allocated slot, they cannot retake the test.

6. Test Pattern & Subjects

Test Duration

100 minutes

Question Distribution

  • English: 10 questions

  • Other subjects: 90 questions

Each correct answer = 4 marks

No negative marking.

Subject Combinations

  1. Mathematics + Physics + Chemistry + English

  2. Mathematics + Physics + Computer Science + English

  3. Mathematics + Statistics + Computer Science + English

  4. Biology + Physics + Chemistry + English

  5. Mathematics + Statistics + Physics + English

Students must select the combination according to their Intermediate subjects.

For DAE Students

They can choose only:

  1. Physics + Mathematics + English + Chemistry

  2. Physics + Mathematics + English + Computer Science

7. Printing Support Facility

Students can print their application and admit card at test centers.

9. Required Photo ID

Candidates must bring one valid photo ID to the test center.

  1. CNIC / NICOP

  2. NADRA Juvenile Card

  3. Original Matric / Intermediate Certificate with photo

  4. Computerized domicile certificate with photo

  5. Passport

  6. A-Level Statement of Entry

  7. NADRA Form-B with photo

Failure to present a valid photo ID may lead to expulsion from the test center.

10. General Instructions

  • Missing your test slot means no second chance.

  • The test system is fully automated, so no rechecking is available.

  • Entrance test fee cannot be refunded or transferred.

  • The university reserves the right to change policies if necessary.
