Law Admission Test (LAT): 2026 Registration Notice

The Education Testing Council (ETC) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) is conducting the Law Admission Test (LAT). This test is a mandatory requirement for students seeking admission into five-year undergraduate LLB degree programs in public and private sector universities across Pakistan, following the orders of the Honorable Supreme Court.


Eligibility Criteria

You are eligible to apply if you fall into either of these categories:

  • Completed: Students who have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent (12 years of education).

  • Awaiting Results: Students who have appeared in the final HSSC examinations and are currently awaiting their results.


Test Pattern & Syllabus

The LAT is a comprehensive exam totaling 100 marks. The passing score is 50.

Important Dates & Schedule

  • Registration Deadline: Monday, May 25, 2026 (24:00 hours).

  • Test Date: Sunday, June 21, 2026.

  • Frequency: The test is conducted on a quarterly basis in major cities.


Application Roadmap

  1. Online Registration: Visit http://etc.hec.gov.pk. Use your own CNIC; using a relative's CNIC will result in disqualification.

  2. Fee Payment: Generate a consumer number on the portal and pay via 1Link/Bill Invoice services. After paying, click "Verify Online Payment" on your dashboard.

  3. Submission: Ensure you click SUBMIT. Applications left in "Save" or "Incomplete" mode will not be processed.

  4. Roll Number Slips: Downloadable from the ETC portal or received via email one week before the test.

  5. Test Day Requirements: You must bring a printout of your Roll Number Slip and your Original CNIC/Passport. Candidates under 18 must bring their Original B-Form and an original certificate with their picture.


Important Guidelines

  • Correction: Double-check your name and CNIC number. Any discrepancy between your CNIC and the application data will prevent you from sitting in the exam.

  • Prohibited Items: Mobile phones, calculators, and any electronic recording or imaging devices are strictly forbidden inside the center.

  • Centre Change: The test center selected during registration is final. However, HEC may reassign you if a center has fewer than 250 applicants.
