Postgraduate Residency Training Programs – Session January 2026

Applications are invited for induction into Postgraduate Residency Training Programs at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad against limited slots in various disciplines.

🎓 Available Programs

1. Four-Year FCPS Training Level-I

Eligibility: Applicants who have passed FCPS Part-I in the relevant specialty.

Specialties:

1. General Medicine

2. Gynae & Obstetrics

3. Ophthalmology

4. Paediatrics Medicine

5. Histopathology

6. Psychiatry

7. ENT

8. Anaesthesia

9. Haematology

10. Operative Dentistry

11. General Surgery

12. Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

2. Three-Year FCPS Training Level-II

Eligibility: Applicants who have completed two years of mandatory training in General Medicine or General Surgery.
(Those who have passed IMM will be preferred.)

Specialties:

1. Urology

2. Dermatology

3. Nephrology

4. Neurology

5. Cardiac Surgery

6. Cardiology

3. Five-Year FCPS Training Program

Eligibility: Applicants who have passed FCPS Part-I in General Surgery.

Specialty:

• Neuro-Surgery

4. Two-Year FCPS Training Level-III

Eligibility: Applicants who have completed FCPS in General Medicine, Paediatrics Medicine, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Cardiology, or Anaesthesia (as relevant to sub-specialties).

2. Paediatric Haematology & Oncology

3. Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology

4. Infectious Diseases

5. Paediatric Gastroenterology

5. 4–6 Years Residency Programs Leading to Terminal Qualification (MD/MS/MDS)

🧾 Eligibility Criteria

1. Candidate must possess MBBS or equivalent degree recognized by PM&DC.

2. Must have completed one-year house job from a PM&DC-recognized institution.

3. Must hold a valid permanent registration with PM&DC.

4. Must have successfully passed a valid FCPS Part-I or MD/MS/MDS Level-I examination from CPSP or SZABMU training programs.

5. Foreign candidates must apply through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Higher Education Commission (HEC) with a valid registration from the Medical Council of their country of origin.

2. Application Form:

   • Fill out the online form completely.

   • Upload the scanned copy of the fee deposit slip.

   • Incomplete applications will not be entertained.

3. Application Fee:

   • Rs. 2000/- (non-refundable) per specialty.

   • To be deposited in NBP Account No. 1780003010766690, titled “Securities Account PIMS Off A/C Branch Code (1780)”.

4. Specialty Selection:

   • Applicants may apply for only one specialty in either CPSP or MD/MS/MDS programs.

5. Incorrect Information:

   • Submission of false or misleading information will result in disqualification for five (05) years from future admissions at PIMS.

🧍‍♂️ Additional Instructions

• Government / Autonomous Body Employees:
  Must apply through proper channel with an NOC.
  Selected candidates must obtain Extra Ordinary Leave (EOL) from their parent department before joining.

• Selection Procedure:

  • Selection will be strictly on open merit.

  • After the written test, top five (05) candidates per seat will be called for an interview.

  • Final selection will be based on written test, interview, and academic record as per approved criteria.

• Test Schedule:
  The date and time for the written test will be announced on the official PIMS website only.
  No individual call letters will be issued.

• Other Information:

  • No TA/DA will be provided for tests or interviews.

  • Applicants are advised to visit www.pims.gov.pk regularly for updates.
