PhD / MPhil Programs – Spring Session 2026

Khyber Medical University (KMU)

Khyber Medical University (KMU) invites applications from Pakistani nationals (male and female) for admission to the following PhD and MPhil/MS programs for the Spring Session 2026 in accordance with KMU and HEC regulations.

PROGRAMS OFFERED & ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A. PhD PROGRAMS

1. PhD Physical Therapy

Institute:

• Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (IPMR), Peshawar

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Pakistani nationals (male and female).

2. Minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).

3. Institutional Graduate Entry Test (GET) with at least 70% marks or GRE with minimum 60% score.

4. Master’s degree in Physical Therapy or an equivalent degree in the relevant field from an HEC-recognized institution.

2. PhD Medical Laboratory Sciences

Institute:

• Institute of Paramedical Sciences (IPMS), Peshawar

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Pakistani nationals (male and female).

2. Minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 or 60% marks.

3. GET (70%) or GRE (60%) is mandatory.

4. Qualification routes include:

   • BS Medical Laboratory Technology (16 years) with MPhil/MS (18 years) in Medical Laboratory Sciences / Biochemistry / Molecular Biology / Microbiology / Hematology / Biotechnology / Transfusion Medicine / Immunology / Human Genetics
     OR

   • BSc Medical Laboratory Technology (14 years) with MSc (15 years) in relevant disciplines and MPhil (18 years) in Medical Laboratory Sciences or allied fields.

B. MPhil / MS PROGRAMS

Admission is open to all Pakistani nationals (male and female).

General Eligibility (MPhil/MS)

1. Minimum CGPA 2.5 or equivalent.

2. Passing the KMU entrance test is mandatory for admission.

Program-Specific Eligibility

a. MPhil/MS Physical Therapy

• BS Physical Therapy (BSPT) or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) (4/5 years) or equivalent from an HEC-recognized university.

b. MPhil/MS Medical Laboratory Sciences

• BS MLT (16 years) or BSc MLT (14 years) with MSc (15 years) in Medical Laboratory Technology / Biochemistry / Molecular Biology / Microbiology / Hematology / Biotechnology / Transfusion Medicine / Human Genetics.

c. MPhil/MS Optometry

• BS Optometry (4 years) or Doctor of Optometry (5 years) from an HEC-recognized institution.

d. MPhil/MS Occupational Therapy

• BS Occupational Therapy (4 years) or equivalent from an HEC-recognized university.

e. MPhil/MS Prosthetics & Orthotics

• BS Prosthetics & Orthotics (4 years) or equivalent from an HEC-recognized university.

f. Transitional BS Prosthetics & Orthotics

• Three-year Bachelor of Science in Prosthetics & Orthotics from an HEC-recognized university.

2. Upload the following documents:

   • Recent passport-size photographs

   • Attested copies of degrees, certificates & DMCs

   • Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)

3. PhD applicants must upload a one-page Statement of Purpose.
