PhD Admission Announcement – April 2026 Intake

Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, invites applications from highly motivated and goal-oriented candidates for one collaborative PhD position in partnership with the University of York (UK) under a distance learning arrangement.

📍 Mode of Study: Full-time
📌 Primary Location: KMU, Peshawar, Pakistan

This prestigious studentship offers an opportunity to undertake doctoral research in collaboration with an internationally recognized university.

Proposed Research Areas

Applicants may apply in the following areas:

• Hypertension management

• Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) management

• Cost-effectiveness of CVD programs

• Sustainability and systems integration of CVD programs in low-resource settings

• Health inequalities and access to hypertension care

• Determinants of cardiovascular health

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Academic Qualification (Master’s Level)

• A Master’s/MPhil degree with at least:

  • Upper Second Class (2:1), OR

  • Minimum CGPA of 3.0 (or equivalent)

• Degree must be in a relevant field such as:

  • Public Health

  • Epidemiology

  • Global Health

  • Health Sciences

2. Bachelor’s Degree

• Must be in a relevant discipline such as:

  • Public Health

  • Epidemiology

  • Global Health

  • Medical and Allied Health Sciences

3. English Language Requirement

• IELTS score of 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in each component,
  OR

• Equivalent qualification as per the Department of Health Sciences requirements (University of York).

📌 Note: English language test results may be submitted later and are not required at the initial application stage.
