The Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT), is a test necessary for the candidates who wishes to pursue a career in the field of law as lawyer, attorney, prosecutor and legal consultant etc. Only successful LAW-GAT candidates are eligible to apply at the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) for enrollment as an advocate. The goal of HEC Law Graduate Assessment Test is to make sure that a law graduate who wants to work in the legal field is properly looked at and evaluated so that only competent people with the necessary basic knowledge of the law can work in the legal field.  

LAW-GAT Eligibility Criteria 

Eligibility criteria for Law GAT test is not that difficult or complex as many people think. The only criteria for Law GAT you have to follow is that you must have cleared the bachelor’s degree in Law or have completed equivalent qualification from a HEC recognized institute.

Application of Law GAT Test

Applications are open for Law Graduate Assessment Test 2024. All the interested candidates should hurry and fill out the Law GAT application form because the last date to submit the Law GAT application was 30th January 2024.

LAW-GAT Roll No Slip

After submitting your Law GAT application candidates can easily download the HEC Law GAT roll no slip at least one week before the test, from their online portal. SMS and email will also be sent to the candidates containing information regarding HEC Law GAT test roll no slip. Candidates also have to bring their law GAT roll no slip along with their original CNIC card and paid challan receipt.  

LAW-GAT Fee Challan Form

All the candidates have to pay the Law GAT test fee in order to successfully submit their Law GAT application. Candidates can generate the Law GAT fee challan form while filling out the Law GAT application. New Law GAT test fee is Rs. 3000/-, candidates must submit this fee online or by visiting any Habib Bank Limited branch. Candidates must bring the original paid fee challan to the exam centre on the test date.  

LAW-GAT Test Centers

There are various Law GAT test centers in the major cities across Pakistan. Candidate will be able to choose a Law GAT exam center while filling out the form according to their own convenience. For example if a candidate wants to attempt his Law Gat test in Lahore, he will select city Lahore in the application, same as if a candidate wants to attempt his Law GAT test in Faisalabad, he will select city Faisalabad in the application form. In addition, candidates are informed that they will not be permitted to change the chosen test center after registration has been completed.

LAW-GAT Test Passing Marks

In order to successfully clear the Law GAT test all the candidates have to obtain the Law GAT test passing marks determined by the HEC. HEC Law GAT test passing marks are 50%, candidates have to obtain minimum 50 marks out of 100 MCQs to clear the test. HEC allows total 5 attempts to clear the Law GAT test. And Law GAT test is conducted by the HEC on quarterly basis.
