In Pakistan there is a great need to act upon this proverb. Because once a poor person becomes ill and gets any severe disease than unless he dies he prays to ALLAH for his death because of highly expensive treatment. If he gets admit in private hospital than he will die to see the discharging bill and if by any means pays fees after borrowing than rest of his life will pass in paying back debt and if he wants to admit in government hospital than he will also die waiting for his turn.

Birth and mortality are apparent in important incidents of human life. In course of his life a man faces sorrow ness, happiness, illness, loyal ness and many other things. But in hospitals birth and death incidents are matters of daily routine.

Today no one knows that whether how many patients, who are victims of unfavorable circumstances, deprived of basic necessities are counting their last minutes. In any civilized country, it is prior responsibility of government to provide basic health facilities but woe that like other sectors and department, the health ministry in Pakistan is also in crises.

“The Health Department is equally responsible for deterioration of the health sector over the past few years”, Former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in giving an interview to .More over this worst condition of health department including hospitals can be improved if doctors are dedicated to their profession. But doctors of today are considered them GOD who can give life to patients and for this they charge heavy fees and ask patients to go for expensive tests, x-rays, ultrasounds and ECGs. Those who can’t afford private treatment go to government hospitals but current condition of government hospitals is heartrending. Wards are more like a heap of mess and anyone likes to go to public lavatory than to go and use there washrooms long ques of patients waiting for their turns. Food in canteens is also non-hygienic.Sourses tell that The Mayo Hospital administration has requested the Communication and Works Department (C&W) to ‘preserve’ the hospital’s building. The 150-year-old hospital is in a shambles as the officials concerned have failed to maintain the building. Out of the nearly 200 countries in the world to day, Pakistan has the eighth highest rate of newborn deaths. Of every 1,000 live births, 53 do not survive their first month of life.

Prevention is better than

If the funds of government hospitals are to be raised and make best use of health and care services than medical needs of citizens people will be fulfilled. There is a need to open new government hospitals and health care centers where latest technology will be used to diagnosis the disease and treatment of patient.

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said in his addressing at medical conference in Islamabad that the government accords top most priority to education and health. Minister for Health Mir Ejaz Hussain Jhakrani said that the government had established a task force on health policy. The task force is focusing on national health services, medical education, human resource development, health financing, hospital management, pharmaceuticals, medical ethics and standards and regulations.
So, let’s hope for the best that government will finance the health department and condition of government hospitals will be improved and it should be.
